This almost whole piece of birch bark was saved from being burnt in a bonfire by Bill Drummond. I am happy he spoke up. It is also very heavy since it has several layers of bark on the other side. It is about 1/2″ thick.
This tree is on a side path going towards Sunnybrooke Park from Edwards Gardens. It is 1.7k or a 2 mile walk from one park to the other. The tree is alive even though it has been split possibly from the way it is bent. The leaves are touching the ground.
This sapling is in Bluffer’s Park and has spent it’s young life being buffeted by strong winds. Obviously the winds were strong and constant to have bent it in this permanent position. I wonder how this tree is doing, I should go and check on it.
